Anyone tried one of those invisible fences for cats? I am looking for a system where the collar gives a shock to the cat if they pass a barrier. What types are there that do this? RFID, direct contact, etc. I am willing to spend at most $250 maybe more.. on this system so anyone have any idea or heard of any products that do this please help me out. I want to get this done as soon as possible. Btw system should allow for 2 cats, even though only one cat is the problem. Also I want to be able to setup a perimeter around tables, countertops etc, willing to buy individual transmitters or such to achieve protection for all off limit items. Thanks.

Moving this to Soap Box, to see if it will get more action.

It would make a nice niche piece, for pet owners. (me for one)
I will poke around some, also

So far all the ones I found or called the manufacturer's, the products are wireless which can emit a range of 1+ feet away making the zone. But its a radial zone so can not set a precise zone around a coffee table for instance. I was hoping to find one which uses a wire maybe with small magnetic charge that can be wired around anything. If cat passes over thus moving into the zone the collar will detect the magnetic anomaly and flip the switch for the shock. So far nothing I found incorporates something like that or similar. I told Mia I could try to build one but she doesn't like the idea of me making a device to shock the cats. I suppose she thinks I will screw up and toast them O.O

Some days, that's not a bad idea.   ; )

How about something like the 'electric eye beam' that stores use to ring a chime when you go through the door.
Only rig it to a dog bark or LOUD noise.

I still have found nothing better than a spray water bottle.

A RFID tag in the collar, with the receiver wired to a proximity 'track-n-fire' trigger?
I wonder how hard those USB Missile Launchers shoot???? Naaa, better not do that...
