I tried clicking the demo links and none worked for me. Went straight to the page like a regular link. I'm guessing its one of my extensions installed maybe NoScript that is messing up the URL, I know it has a 'try to fix JS url' option. I disabled that option though and still demo links didn't work. Would this still work using an onclick? Anyone else having the same problem?

Javascript has to be enable for it to work correctly.  it has to be able ro run the function.  If you are just getting the target page, it is because the only thing the browser understandts is the url in the arguments, and it would not even be able to handle that if the url was in a variable instead of a literal.

Less that 3% of ERT visitors have JS disabled so it is not a real problem.  There is no workaround to do DHTML, AJAX or a lot of other things if JS is disabled.  Onclick and other events use JS as well.

I enabled JS for the page of course =oP, but problem still occurred, got a few JS errors from the tracker maybe thats causes the JS on page to fail?

Found the problem! It was Redirect Remover extension it was thinking the link was a redirect so it grabbed the last http bit and made it the new link.
