I have been tinkering with the notification system some more, to allow users who want it to get notifs after every reply. It seems to be working, but required a nasty hack, so it will need additional testing, which Sandi and I will be doing during the coming days. If it works all right, we'll make it available to everyone.

If you notice any strange behavior while posting, please let us know in the Bug Reports forum. Please do the same if you are having notif troubles.

One thing that has changed, which is not a bug, is that you may see this after your post:

instead of the usual screen. Don't panic -- the hasnt been hacked or anything ;-) If the notif mod I've made seems to work acceptably, I may make the page prettier later, but for now, you'll just have to get used to it :?

SITE MANAGERS: I'll be away for the next couple days. If this causes problems, comment out the code between lines 980-1000 in forum/includes/functions_post.php

Looks fine "as is".
Although I did get a nice little adrenaline rush the first time.

I'm still not getting all the notifs damnit.  Mostly I'm missing notifs for new topics that have been posted.   :-s

OK, I have finally finished the notif management page, which any member who is logged in can now use:

http://www.expertsrt.net/forum/manage_notifs.php

It works pretty well for receiving all notifs for replies. The new topic notifs are still a bit buggy, though I'm not sure why. I'm just about out of patience for tinkering with phpBB, and more than out of time, so I have no immediate plans for working further on this, especially since phpBB will almost certainly be replaced in the upcoming months. If another site manager or developer would like to take up the fight, you're more than welcome, and I'll give you any access that you need to do so.

In the meantime, I ope everyone enjoys the modest improvement in the notif system...

OK, OK, you caught me   :D
But you don't count as old, cause I'm pretty sure my mom is at least 10 years older than you  :-$

Flattery will get you.....fresh baked cookies!  Actually my son (and oldest child) is older than you by a few years so I'd suspect I'm probably older than your mother.  But I'm really young at heart and mind.

BTW,

Could all those test threads be put in the archives or in a non-accessible area.  The only thing showing up in the "latest forum threads feed is those test threads, an they are not going to bring any action or do anything for our image.

Good point - I hadn't thought of that...that whole forum can just be deleted now, which I will do in a second. In the future if I need to do it I'll make an access-restricted forum for it.
