So have you figured out when we're making the switch? I'm still making backups every couple of hours here if that helps. The past few I've just been overwriting the last ones.

The DNS is still getting sorted out so it will be at least a day or so -- it seems each time I get them to fix one thing, they break another :sad3: Not to worry, though, I've worked with these guys before and they're usually on the ball.
Backups can't hurt but don't knock yourself out -- I'll back it up one last time right before I make the switch and load it in over there (BTW, our test PMs over there will get lost, so if you want the "hey, is this working?" stuff you should log in and copy it ) Even if I do something catastophically idiotic we shouldn't have any trouble except a little extra downtime.

I had assumed as much about the PMs. Luckily, I know more about this stuff than people give me credit for. :D

Oh and Matt, the URL for retrieving your IP is
http://www.whatsmyip.org
dear. The other url was sold about a year ago and they've taken it down. :D

well, it's not sorcery doing a "what's my external IP" tool :D
One display of $REMOTE_ADDR, that's all.
And it won't differ from a "ifconfig" or "ipconfig /all" call only for people that are behind a router or proxy...
though job indeed :D

Matt if you need to move stuff around, use the beta subdomain. I re-added it and it is empty so if you need temporary staging backup put it there.
Do you need the zipped backups in www or do you already have them?

I always gave you credit for it. That's why I ask you to be Forum Admin. That was me avoiding some of the day to day work.

VGR, ipconfig /all doesn't work for my network  I was just lazy when I typed the URL and as Matt pointed out to me (I admit when I'm wrong!) I dropped the "i" in the URL.
Roy, I know, and I still appreciate all of the confidence you've put in my abilities in spite of what others were saying. For that I will be eternally grateful. :D

PS: If you dont know your ip go to
http://www.whatismyip.com
How do I use that site? =oP
I was wondering does the new host have SSL? I know by changing the url scheme to HTTPS it will use the SSL cert of the host if site does not have its own, which I can permanently accept as being the one for ERT. But on this site when I do
https://www.expertsrt.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=74
I get an 'Access Forbidden!'. I know on my site and many others I have the ability to use SSL cert of host but am hoping the .net ERT will give me that option to at least login securely. Would be good for admin logins too, as long as user knows to trust only the cert of the hosting provider and not some cert that belongs to freeipods.com

Hey, don't knock freeipods.com -- my buddy got one from them
Yes, the new host should have SSL. It will be a self-signed cert I believe, but good enough for us.

Update: The DNS issue is resolved.

I'll give it a day or so to fully propagate, and then we should be ready to roll.
