Hi.

Mainly for the development team, but obviously for others also, I propose the installation of a BBCode syntax highlighter. This will allow all code submitted as part of a post to actually be a LOT more readable that all green! Developing code with syntax highlighting enabled is significantly easier. Just how many times have you forgot " and put ' !

The following sites both look appropriate.

Looks nice.

I look at the documentation, and it look to be rather an entensive amount of work to impliment, and with the amount of modification we have done on the PHPBB code, I don't know if we will run into trouble with it.

Before I would vote in favor of this proposal I need to have some idea of total work effort.  How you are proposing we use it, and who is going be responsible for gettig it working and maintaining it.

If we put a freeze on further mods for today, I'll download the current snapshot of ERT and have a go at installing the mod.

I'll make the amendments to the MOD file for automatic installation.

First I'll add it to my own site here. Just to see how easy it all is anyway. And I've got a LOAD of mods, but none around BBCode, so MAYBE this will be fairly easy.

sounds nice. RQ -- maybe it would be easiest to use PHP alpha? Just copy the current phpBB installation over the one there using the cmd prompt, and do whatever you need. If it breaks, no big deal.

Ah. That's easier. I wasn't sure of the state of phpalpha.

Eek! 2 more mods required.

And then the phpbb -> GeSHi link is unmaintained.

Hmmm.

Shame.

I got the mod installed on my own site. But no button. One of the mods is hiding things!

Grr.

I hope it does not require that HTML codes be enabled, because that is not going to happen.  Enabling HTML codes is a huge security hole, that exposes the database to total destruction. and leaves the code based exposed to all kinds of nasty exploits.

So how is it going?

Do I need to leave this one alone for awhile longer?

The bbcode mod for phpbb+GeSHi is VERY old. No documentation. PHPBB is so poorly documented that trying to work out where you should place the code is guess work.

I'm going to do a clean install at home and just get the mods in. Just to see if it can go in clean.

It is installed, but not working. In fact, no errors or warnings or anything, so hey at least its not broken anything.

Week should be good.

Oh. I'm getting broadband at home, so HOPEFULLY, a few extra hours in the evening for this site from middle of next week.

Currently, all the work I've done here is at my work, so shhhh!
