If you are looking for Disaster Recovery or High Availability solutions within SQL Server 2000...do NOT use replication :-)

Replication is for distributed data entry and some reporting.  Not everything gets replicated unless you choose it, and some things (like security settings) cannot be replicated at all.

Clustering is the highest availability option within SQL Server, and Log Shipping is a decent 2nd option if you can handle some latency.  LS does have the potential for data loss if the T-Log backups have not been copied to the standby server yet.

Just thought I would clarify, since the question seems to come up way to often.
