Most of you will recognize the place...if not I'm sure you can figure it out.

Yes, we discussed this in the preliminary stages.  SE was a place for the ERT site builders and friends to hang out while ERT was being built and will serve as the lounge to keep ERT professional.

Soapbox = professional
Lounge = Well, you know  :glasses7:

Fortunately, I know enough .htaccess magic to make SE a virtual part of ERT, and I didn't have to write any code, just create and configure the subdomain to jump across.

That means Mentors have a place to go vent.  There will be links right in the forums so quick relief of frustration will be one click away.

Rod and I had this part figured out right from the start.  SE has some serious discussion areas where the expression of opinion can be in more common terms so we have a place to take things that start to get too heated, but with out the high noise to signal ratio you get sometimes when you try to take things to the lounge at TOS.

Yet another improvement of general design over the tired worn out design of other help sites.

erhm...

Because no one is making any noise???

The content side is very busy, we are getting new members in the forum at a faster rate, but no one is posting anything.  It looks better and we are getting more members, but no action.  We need to stir it up a little.

A good thread that we could use for submission to digg would real get the forum going, but forum threads do not do well on the community news sites unless they are really unique. so we need to create a special heavy duty thread that let's the world know we are waiting  to create an ew universe where everything works the first time out of the box; all computers have unlimited memories; there is no such thing as spam or phishing; and Microsoft is a brand of toilet paper.

My bad. I meant SE

As for a "special heavy duty thread ...", I have a couple of ideas. But that is all they are at the moment.

Oh SE, don't know.  Might just be a lull becaue there is not much going on that needs a lounge, or maybe ... hmm, I dunno?

Well, in the beginning there was a lot to vent about...these days not so much I guess.  People still stumble around there on occasion.

It's ALL Cd&'s fault. He made a constructive outlet for all that rage.

Why do I get ALL the blame.  I just parked some building material on a vacant lot, and people started building stuff.

Anyway, year one:

A lot of the postings at SE were very negative energy being released. Once ERT got going things settled down a bunch as we had positive things to do.

You bettr hope that Bev does not find out you stoled her pfft.  Yesterday was her birthday which she is one year meaner. ;^)

I think without SE that ERT would not have gotten off the ground.  We would have been the anti-EE and anti anything is generally pretty short-lived.  By keping most of the EE bashing, Admin bashing, and rants away from ERT it gave us time to think about a new site instead of worrying about what was wrong with plantation and the overseers.

Oh I couldn't agree more, negativity peters out in time and it would not have been good to mix the two.  Absent funding or another host, SE will probably be gone next August.
