Both have elements that I like.
My constructive critique:
#1.
The font and tilt of the word Experts gives me a bad impression. Especially combined with the different angle of the swoosh.
The swoosh gives it a good dynamic and says "hey, we are alive".
Overall I feel it lacks unity and I'm not sure it tells the story about a place of enlightenment that breaks through the crap that we find everywhere else.
#2.
I like what the type expresses but would love to see some serifs in there to represent lucidness and elegance.
I like the half-circle with the arrows, I feel it's very expressive yet abstract. A good graphic that people can become familiar with and that we will be able to play with without messing with its identity.
I like the ERT. (Although the T is missaligned) But I think you could do a play on colors to help the symmetrical balance (right now is left-heavy)
I'm not so hot for the whitespace to the right.
Overall both very good efforts and an excellent source of ideas. I would love to see #2 with:
- A similar font but with serifs
- Something done to the negative space to the right
- Incorporate the concept of the swoosh from #1
- A few other color combinations
I would propose some samples, but everytime I play with a logo I manage to make a mess out of it... unless you don't mind waiting 6 months, cause I'm probably taking a logo design class next term ;)
I also want to say that I'm very excited with the way this effort is coming along.

Just a question, are the site colors going to be teal, blue and red?

The overall aluminoid look uses a lot of gray tones; which gives high marks on accessibility. That also means that small amounts of color make ver effective highlights. As for the actual color combinations, I think the graphics team are pretty much narrowing down to what we see, though I think the feed back they get here will effect the final look.
