If your topic or question primarily deals with a single specific technology, such as JavaScript, PHP or ASP, then Web Dev may not be your best choice.

The General Web Dev forum would tend to focus on more general or broad applications of technologies.

If you want to know how to incorporate client side remote scripting hitting a remote page, pulling data from a SQL database using a server side script (e.g. putting it ALL together) this is the area.
