Installation Wizard Interrupted
«
on:
November 15, 2007, 08:24:03 PM »
"The Installation Wizard was interrupted before Apache HTTP
Server 2.0.61 could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modified.
To complete installation at another time,
please run setup again."
Hi,
I installed apache_2.0.61-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi successfully.
Then I deleted (removed) apache_2.0.61-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi .
Now I try to install apache_2.0.61-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi again
and get the error message above.
Any idea? Thank you!
My system,
XP SP2 Professional version 2002
Pentium 4 3.00 GHz

please copy the .mdi file maually back in place.
never delete the .msi file of an installed software part
it then can't be removed, nor "over-installed" because of registry settings telling windaube that an .msi file is REQUIRED oer that software.

Dear Mentor
Would you kindly elaborate more?
When I go to C:\Documents and Settings\User\desktop,
I have apache_2.0.61-win32-x86-no_ssl(3).
Where do I get .mdi file?
In which folder do I place .mdi file?
Thanks!

hello,
You wrote "I deleted (removed) apache_2.0.61-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi" so I assumed you knew where to put that file back in place.
If not, then I'm sorry but it depends on your OS version, platform, language, and user settings ;-)
the correct answer is "where you had put it at the time you installed the software"
in my case, I have .msi files in c:\winnt\installer
in %winnt%\ServicePackFiles\i386 - that's probably not for you
also in "downloaded installations", again under %WINNT%
and finally, of course, in c:\documents and settings\<profilename>\local settings\Temp - it's probabyl not a bad idea to start there -
I also have some in %WINNT%\system32
have fun ;-)

Dear Mentor,
Please bear with me.
I am a bit retard as far as windoz is concerned.
I started with
http://www.expertsrt.com/tutorials/Matt/install-apache.html
I went to
http://ftp.mirror.tw/pub/apache/httpd/binaries/win32/
I downloaded apache_2.0.61-win32-x86-no_ssl(4)
And apache_2.0.61-win32-x86-no_ssl(4) was saved under
C:\Documents and Settings\User\desktop
And there was no .mdi file under C:\Documents and Settings\User\desktop
So I am stuck. Please be kind enough to take me by the hand.
My system XP SP2 Professional version 2002

???
the file you downloaded is apache_2.0.59-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi and it's an "MSI Installer Package"
this is the .msi file i'm writing about repeatedly ;-)
you've a ***slight chance*** of being able to uninstall Apache by copying/saving the downloaded file back in the same place (ie, the place you deleted it from)
do you get it ?
there's no guarantee that this'll work though.
an other solution is just to reinstall, and then uninstall. Or you can use a "registry cleaner" program (one able to remove settings pertaining to unistalled programs, ie "left overs") ; there are some available on the Web.
good luck

Dear Mentor
"you've a ***slight chance*** of being able to uninstall Apache by copying/saving the downloaded file back in the same place (ie, the place you deleted it from)"
I tried and did not work.
I tried registry cleaner and was presented with many registry issues (failures).
I decided not to mess with the registry and went ahead to download
.exe file.
And it is working.
Thank you for your help!
