Went over 25,000 page views today, versus the same article on my site linked other places that has only 144 page views, and my IP is excluded from the log count.

ERT is definitely getting traffic to the articles.

I've had over a dozen of the article readers contact me with requests for help or just compliments.

FWIW...I think that's pretty interesting, of course only 2 people out of 25000 asked for permission to use the code per the terms of use, but at least I got credit somewhere.

Most of the downloads for the js include file have been from India, so I wonder how many outsourced US companies are using the code without knowing where their web developers got it?

Most of the credit goes to the content, and author; but I am going to take some credit for promotion.

The site continues slowly build traffic, and I have not done anything but follow best practice on SEO.  It is not rocket science, just patients and paying attention to what Google is doing, recommending , and asking for.

No, the same article, stand alone on my site has < 500 hits.  It's all SEO, because ERT comes up tops on the search versus my page.  It is however a popular search topic.

True.  There are several variations of JS read file that consistently come up in the top 20 search terms for ERT.  However, an important part of the Google ranking system is backlinks.  To get those you need quality, and you need to get the pages noticed by other sites to get the links.

There are three parts that need to come together:  Quality content; SEO; backlinks.  Quality is the most important.  Without quality, you won't get many backlinks and without  quality you can only do so much with SEO.

However a perfect page, on a good site will not get traffic without promotion design to make it look popular to the Google indexng droids. SO:

(quality + SEO + promotion) * (backlinks + good search terms) = top rankiing
