prelude to a fugue

Hi there. this is Jeff comin' atcha from dawn 'rond-the-Pittsburgh area. (that's a 'burgh accent attempt there... "down", is "dawn"... i dunno) actually-- not so close there anymore, but i thought the accent would be fun to try. oh well...
anyway-- y'all seem like a cool group, so i'll mention this little bit about my personal...
sorry to those of you who have contributed so much to my learning in generous reply to my inquiry, and yet i've been bad w/ consistency in maintaining a smooth flow to any thread thus far. actually, i've been more busy lately than i've been in a while because i'm moving all of my Clients from my "first" hosting / reseller plan (a great deal it was, but a rather over-stocker server, most likely) to a Virtual Private Server setup. it is a lot of work. it wouldn't have had to be-- but apparently the cPanel setup where i was for a while (whence i'm moving my stuff now) must have been "hackkd" a bit-- i mean, i know he hacked it because stuff wasn't right such as "parked" vs "add-on", etc., blah, blah-- the point being, cPanel to cPanel should be a cPiece of cCake-- but the "transfer" function didn't work, so here i am trying to do Drupal's and Joomla's and WordPress's manually-- it ain't fun, but it's a learning experience.
inevitably, i've taken breaks from it so it's taking longer than it really needs to be-- but it's part of a great opportunity for me. a friend who's been hosting consistently since 1994-ish has finally decided to start working w/ someone else (me) -- having only ever used the "old-school" *nix admin (BSDi via. SSH), he too is learning in the realm of cPanel and WHM, so we're taking it slow-- trying to "master" each thing as we go along. its cool, but tedious-- and i'm stressed and consumed in it. soon it will be finished... ugh!
anyway-- so that's what i'm up to. trying to get my little "Web Services" company going. i've only really got one paying client yet, and done a lot of Pro-bono stuff. started learning PHP in 2005. did some ColdFusion before that, and since then. Worked as ColdFusion Web Developer for [a local University] for a while (my name is still on their thing last i looked... haha... how funny is that...), but i've recently learned i've got narcolepsy, so extrapolate from that-- i'm not working there anymore being the long story short.
my real gig was a rock n roll guitarist. i did the performing guitarist thing from 15 till about 31 or so. toured a bit in support of a CD. it wears on ya-- 'specially when home-base is a College town... they keep getting younger and younger!! what is up with that!!? and drunker and drunker, i think. hee hee. when the goodies didn't taste like goodies anymore, i decided it was time to put all that away... the retirement plan stinks, so i figured i'd quit while i still had enough brain cells to know it was the right thing to do.
;)
aight. hope all y'all is fine. i look forward to bein' a part.
(the edit was the year on php-- i had 1995 in there! haha-- that's "gettin' old for ya, huh?!", and decided to remove one bit of identifier info... sorry...)
