Title: New Announcement: SSL Post by: nicholassolutions on May 15, 2006, 04:37:19 AM I've set up SSL encryption, which will allow users to make secure connections to the site should they need to, e.g. https://www.expertsrt.net/forum. In particular, you may want to use this when signing-in to the forum (especially Sandi and others with Editor privileges) in order to protect your passwords, and developers should use it when transferring sensitive information.
It's a self-signed certificate, which means that your browser will pop up a warning message to let you know that the certificate cannot be verified (it is, nevertheless, secure). If this error becomes annoying, you can have your browser install the certificate for you. Also, it's only been issued for the single name "www.expertsrt.net" so if you connect to https://expertsrt.net/index.php or a subdomain, you will get an additional warning about a "domain name mismatch" (again, the connection *is* still secure). In the future we may buy a signed certificate, but at present it does not seem worth the cost.
