Title: Scrap the Journal
Post by: coral1 on April 22, 2007, 10:57:16 PM
Due to the lack of usage (it was a good idea, it just didn't catch on), and the spam attacks, the Journal as it currently implemented, is being considered for phasing out.

This discussion thread is to see if there is enough interest to put it to a vote, or if the Development & Maintenance Team can just take care of it when they get a chance.

As an added note, there have been  some comments made about something like it in the new UI, on the .COM side of things.

You can post your Questions and Comments now.   : ))

The intention on the .com sid has been to incorporate a blog-like interface relatd to articles.  Given the lack of use of the journal facility, I think I will expriment with a couple of variations on a theme and then do a poll to determine what the community wants to have.

If teh journal is not being used then let's not expend a lot fighting spam in it.  Just remove it as a failed experiment.  An experiment that fails still gives us answers so the effort was not lost.

Correct.
There are no failed experiments. Just unexpected results.  : ))
